Learning the basic colors

Learning the basic colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, and brown) can be fun.

Supplies needed: One sheet of construction paper for each color that you want to teach. A bean bag and if that isn’t available a rolled up pair of child’s socks will do just fine.

Place the sheets of colored paper on the floor side by side. Let the child throw the bean bag on a color and name the color. To add variety, ask the child to name something in the room that is the same color. Then you might ask the child to name something that God has made that is the same color.

If you want to add scissors and cutting to the activity just have magazines pictures available in the cutting box and let them find a picture that matches that color. Then they can glue them on the paper.
