Paper brooms that really sweep

Supplies needed:  6 pages of the newpaper, scissors, paper clip, and rubber band

You are going to be all ready to clean clean clean. Give the child 6 sheets of newspaper. While lying flat, secure them with a paper clip or a clothes pen.

Let the child fold the paper in half from top to bottom  Draw a line horizontally in the middle of that half to show the child where to stop cutting.  The child will cut strips about 1 inch wide all across the bottom of the paper so it will look like fringe. Help them to roll the newspaper up tight and then secure it with a rubber band or two. Now the broom has a handle and the child can sweep away.
